Goal of the day: Giovanni Marchese (Genoa) vs Udinese
Table of Contents
Genoa defender Giovanni Marchese scored an early contender for goal of the season in their 4-2 away win at Udinese on Sunday.
Antonio Di Natale put the home side in front after just 22 seconds - the quickest goal of the Serie A season.
But Marchese scored a wonder strike in the 21st minute to pull Genoa level.
A corner was cleared to the edge of the box, where Marchese met it with a fantastic strike that found the bottom corner of the net and left Udinese goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis with little chance.
After Iago Falque and Silvan Widmer exchanged goals before the interval, Alessandro Matri restored Genoa's lead in the 54th minute before substitute Juraj Kucka netted a late fourth.
"I saw the ball coming down and I didn't think twice about it," Marchese told Sky Sport Italia.
"I dedicate my goal to my wife and my son, who is about to be born. I am proud of them."
