Atlético Madrid President Enrique Cerezo has admitted that Diego Costa's departure to Chelsea "was rushed through" as the striker "could not say no" to the Blues.
The 26-year-old scored 36 times for Atlético last season as the Spanish club won their first La Liga title since 1996 and reached the Champions League final.
Costa then moved to Chelsea in a £32 million deal in the summer and has played a vital part in the club's strong start to the campaign.
"He's one of the best strikers in the world. His departure was rushed through because he had a moment of weakness and he couldn’t say no," Cerezo told Radio4G.
"If the same were to happen now, he wouldn't leave. The financial side was not so great for us. We received around 50 percent of what had been discussed. It was more a matter of how much money he would receive."
