Swansea City eased their relegations fears with a 4-1 home win over Aston Villa on Saturday, with Jonjo Shelvey's goal of the season contender the highlight.
Wilfried Bony put the Swans in front after just nine minutes, but Gabriel Agbonlahor pulled Villa level from close range 12 minutes later.
The visitors' joy was short-lived, though, as four minutes later Shelvey came up with a moment of magic that had the Liberty crowd on its feet.
After Pablo Hernández had rushed Ron Vlaar into a clearance, the defender's pass flew straight to Shelvey just inside the centre circle.
Spotting Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan off his line, the former Liverpool midfielder unleashed a strike reminiscent of Wayne Rooney's goal against West Ham last month.
Poor Guzan was bamboozled by the flight of the ball, and could only watch as it floated gracefully over his head.
Pablo then extended Swansea's lead in the 73rd minute before Bony claimed his second of the game with a stoppage-time penalty.
"I thought it was going over at first, so I started walking away," Shelvey told Swans Player. "But luckily it dropped over the keeper's head and went in.
"I had a quick look before I hit it to see if there were any options, but I caught it nice and it was a great strike."
Swansea manager Garry Monk added: "He came in shouting goal of the season, which is typical of Jonjo.
"It was brilliant. He's got that in his locker - that technique. It was no fluke.
"To have that vision, not many players can do that. It was a fantastic goal and an important goal at an important time of the match.
"You forget he is only 21 because he has so much potential."
"Jonjo is a great, young player and I am not surprised at all by his goal. He tries it quite a lot and today it really paid off," said Bony.
