Table of Contents
An astonishing Premier League game on Saturday saw Theo Walcott score a beauty on his return to the Arsenal starting XI, but Manchester City came out on top in a nine-goal thriller.
The hugely entertaining affair at the Etihad Stadium was marked by some brilliant attacking play by both sides, and lots of slack play at the back, particularly from Arsenal.
Sergio Agüero and Walcott swapped goals in the first half-hour but the hosts would steal a crucial advantage when Álvaro Negredo and Fernandinho struck either side of half-time.
Arsenal stayed in contention as Walcott curled in a wonderful strike for his second of the match.
Aaron Ramsey sent Walcott a pass to the left side of the box, and the newly-announced dad-to-be curled home a gorgeous shot over Costel Pantilimon and into the top corner.
The game was back in the balance but David Silva stabbed home at the near post to add the fourth before Fernandinho added his second.
Per Mertesacker headed home a consolation for the visitors deep into injury time but Yaya Touré converted a penalty to make it six after James Milner was brought down in the box by Wojciech Szczęsny.
