Raúl García gave Atlético the perfect start to the Group G encounter with the opening goal in the eighth minute.

Costa, who was serving a suspension during the earlier group matches, doubled the lead in the 20th minute with a superb solo effort.

After picking up the ball in his own half, the Brazil-born striker raced towards the final third, got clear of Manuel Ortlechner before finishing calmly past Heinz Lindner.

It was his very first Champions League goal, in his first career appearance in the competition.

Costa then put the result beyond doubt with his second goal eight minutes after the restart.

"My first goal was beautiful," Costa told Canal+.

"I always try to take advantage of the fact I'm really fast so I receive the ball and was able to overcome my marker."
