Yaya Touré scored a sensational late free-kick to seal a 2-0 victory for Manchester City against a spirited Hull City side at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
After suffering a shock defeat at Cardiff City last weekend, Manuel Pellegrini's side were again troubled by one of the Premier League newcomers.
The hosts had struggled to break down the Tigers who could have taken the lead on a couple of occasions during the first period and they were unlucky not to lead at half-time.
Frustrated by his team's inability to find a breakthrough, Pellegrini brought on Álvaro Negredo for Edin Džeko at half-time and the decision was rewarded on 65 minutes when the summer signing headed home Pablo Zabaleta's cross.
Hull refused to give up, but the game was put beyond their reach in the final minute with Touré scoring an exquisite free-kick to seal the result.
A James Chester foul on Samir Nasri was punished with a free-kick on the edge of the area.
And Touré stepped up and curled home a superb 20-yard free-kick that went top corner despite Allan McGregor's dive and Ahmed Elmohamady's goal-line leap.
