Table of Contents
A stunning solo effort from Arjen Robben ensured Bayern Munich won 2-0 against Bavarian rivals Nürnberg on Saturday and maintained their 100 percent start to the season.
The 71,000 capacity crowd at the Allianz Arena watched Pep Guardiola's side utterly dominate the first half of the 187th Bavarian derby, but struggle for clear-cut openings against their disciplined opponents.
David Alaba had the chance to score from the penalty spot in the 33rd minute after Per Nilsson was adjudged to have fouled Robben, but Raphael Schäfer saved the Bayern defender's weak effort.
Bayern raised their game in the second half and created chance after chance, but it took until the 69th minute before Franck Ribéry finally ended the stalemate with a rare headed goal.
Less than 10 minutes later, Robben sealed victory with a fine individual goal.
The Dutchman came in off the right touchline, beating three Nürnberg players, inside and outside, on his way into the penalty area.
He then slotted the ball through Schäfer's legs with his right foot, scoring with his weaker foot for just the third time from 47 Bundesliga goals.
