Goal of the day: Emmanuel Adebayor (Tottenham) vs Chelsea
Table of Contents
Emmanuel Adebayor grabbed a wonder goal as Tottenham Hotspur twice came from behind to draw 2-2 at Chelsea on Wednesday evening.
It's a huge game for both sides at Stamford Bridge as both Chelsea and Spurs stake their claims for Champions League places.
The hosts took the lead after 10 minutes through their young Brazilian Oscar as he met a Gary Cahill header at the back post.
Spurs had struggled to get into the game but midway through the first-half a fantastic run and finish from Adebayor brought them level.
A Chelsea was headed clear, Scott Parker and Holtby then won important tackles inside their own half and the ball ran to Adebayor.
Perhaps thinking that he wasn't going to do any damage, the Chelsea defense backed off and backed off as Adebayor led a Spurs counter attack.
The Togo striker just kept advancing on goal until, 25 yards out, he curled a beauty which left Petr Čech rooted to the spot as the ball nestled in the back of the net.
Chelsea were back in front through Ramires six minutes before the break, but Gylfi Sigurðsson stepped off the bench to curl home the equalizer 10 minutes from time.
"Adebayor's first goal is absolutely unbelievable. It was good for him to score in such a decisive place," Spurs boss André Villas-Boas told Sky Sports.
"He had a great, great game. He really linked up the game well for us and you saw his finishing touch. He has fully deserved his man of the match."
