Goal of the day: Adel Taarabt (QPR) vs Fulham
Table of Contents
A superb solo goal from Adel Taarabt inspired Queens Park Rangers to end their Premier League winless run with a 2-1 victory over Fulham at Loftus Road.
After a goalless first half, Taarabt made the vital breakthrough on 52 minutes when his hopeful shot deflected off Brede Hangeland and past the helpless Mark Schwarzer.
And the 23-year-old Moroccan capped an excellent individual display with a fine individual goal in the 68th minute.
After picking up the ball just inside the Fulham half, the midfielder wriggled past Hangeland, burst to the edge of the box and shot home sweetly with the outside of his right boot.
There was a nail-biting finale when Fulham scored a late goal from Mladen Petrić, but Taarabt and the home side deservedly held on.
"It was one of the all-time great performances I felt," Hoops boss Harry Redknapp told Sky Sports.
"Everything he did today was top class and the goals were the icing on the cake.
"Adel has got the talent and the ability to be as good as he wants to be."
