Goal of the day: Papiss Demba Cissé (Newcastle) vs Swansea
Table of Contents
January signing Papiss Demba Cissé put away a top-quality finish to seal a hard-fought 2-0 victory for Newcastle United at Swansea City on Friday.
The Senegal striker slotted low beyond Michel Vorm after just five minutes to open the scoring at the Liberty Stadium.
Then the £9 million man, signed from Freiburg in January, doubled the lead with a remarkable effort in the 69th minute.
Yohan Cabaye combined with Cissé, with the striker delicately lofting the ball over Vorm into the far corner while off balance.
The goals gave the 26-year-old a brace in each of his last three appearances, and he has now scored nine goals in his last eight games.
"The second goal, it was like a Masters golf shot," Newcastle manager Alan Pardew said after the game.
"I thought it had gone over in mid-air, but it had that bit of backspin on it. It was a terrific finish."
