Goal of the day: Adel Taarabt (QPR) vs Tottenham
Table of Contents
Adel Taarabt's sublime free-kick was enough to secure Queens Park Rangers a 1-0 home win over Tottenham Hotspur and move his side a step closer to the Premier League survival.
Spurs had most of the first-half possession, but it was the home side who produced a potential knockout blow midway through the first half.
After challenging with Bobby Zamora, Sandro was penalized by referee Mark Clattenburg for what seemed to be a soft handball.
Former Spurs man Taarabt stepped up to sweep a sublime curling effort into Brad Friedel's bottom right-hand corner, notching his second Premier League goal of the season and sending Loftus Road into raptures.
The mercurial Moroccan was later sent off a second bookable offense but it was his strike that earned QPR the victory and condemned Spurs to yet another defeat.
"(It was) a great goal from Adel and he showed his ability once again," said QPR manager Mark Hughes.
