Wigan get 48 balls stolen at training ground

Wigan Athletic were forced to postpone their training session on Thursday morning after thieves stole 48 balls from their training ground.
Groundstaff at Christopher Park, the clubs training facility, had placed five kit bags each containing 12 Nike balls in the middle of the training pitch, but when the players came out four of the bags had disappeared.
Toffees manager David Moyes was asked about the incident in his pre-match press conference and replied - with tongue firmly in cheek: "We sent somebody round to get rid of a few balls and Wigan had none to train with!"
Earlier, Greater Manchester Police said: "Shortly before 11.30am on Thursday, police were called to Christopher Park, Standish, following a report of theft.
"Sometime between 9.45am and 11am four ball bags containing 48 Nike footballs were stolen. Inquiries are continuing."
The culprits are believed to got into the training ground through an unlocked side gate.
