Spain legend Raúl turns down Blackburn move

Blackburn Rovers have been knocked back in their ambitious swoop for Spanish legend Raúl after the Schalke 04 forward rejected the chance to move to Ewood Park.
The Premier League outfit sent a written bid to Schalke on Monday for the 34-year-old, who has a contract until June 2012.
Schalke were open to sanctioning his sale but Raúl has pledged his immediate future to Die Königsblauen and is expected to travel to Finland with the squad on Wednesday for Thursday's Europa League qualifying tie against HJK Helsinki.
"His agent has told me that Raúl wants to stay with Schalke 04 and asked us to reject Blackburn Rovers. We have already done so," Schalke general manager Horst Heldt told the club's website.
"We are pleased that Raúl wants to continue to contribute to all our sporting success."
