A statue to immortalize the figure of Boca Juniors star Juan Román Riquelme was inaugurated on Saturday at the Museo de la Pasión Boquense.
The statue is 2.2 meters high and financed through voluntary contribution from individual fans, who in return would receive a personal certificate marking their contribution.
"You're all crazy, I always say that," said an emotional Riquelme before a crowd that chanted his name.
"I will never be able to repay you for what you have given me. This is the most beautiful moment in my career.
"I'm a fan of Boca and will die as one, like you all!"
The event was attended by Boca president Jorge Amor Ameal and friends of the player - Marcelo Delgado, Lucas Viatri and Javier García.
