AS Roma are apparently on the verge of acquiring River Plate starlet Erik Lamela for a €12 million fee.
The fallen Argentine giants have reportedly agreed to sell the 19-year-old following their relegation and a deal has seemingly been done.
However, Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini was cautious when speaking of the potential transfer.
He told Corriere dello Sport: "The deal is not done yet.
"We cannot make it official even though there is optimism in the air and I feel it as well.
"There is a strong possibility that he will come to Roma but he is still a River Plate player.
"Right now I would say there is a 50 percent chance he will come to Roma."
The player himself has already said goodbye to the River fans via Twitter.
He wrote: "I love you all. I thank you for the support you've always given, helping me grow day by day. I will never forget you."
