Out of favour Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago has risked the wrath of all involved at the club by declaring bitter-rivals Barcelona are the best team ever.
Gago, who arrived at Real from Boca Juniors in 2006 for €20 million, is expected to leave the club in the summer after several injuries in the last two seasons restricted him to just a peripheral role at the Bernabéu.
Gago told ESPN Argentina: "Barcelona are the best team in history.
"They are well above Real Madrid and the fans do not want to admit it. Last season, the fans thought we could finish above them, but it was impossible."
