Evra: How Fergie made me stay at Man United

French full-back Patrice Evra has revealed he wanted to quit Manchester United last summer, before Sir Alex Ferguson knocked on his door and convinced him to stay.
Having endured a dreadful World Cup as France captain, being suspended by the French Football Federation as a result of his involvement in a players' mutiny against coach Raymond Domenech in South Africa, Evra returned to Manchester ready to end his four-year spell at United.
However, after holding talks with Ferguson, Evra chose to remain at Old Trafford and ended up signing a contract extension that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2014.
Evra told The Sun: "I had thought about leaving last summer for family reasons but something changed my mind late on.
"There were clubs interested like Real Madrid and Inter Milan.
"But the manager visited me at my home to persuade me to stay.
"I know my heart has made the right decision. When Sir Alex talks, it's a good idea to listen!"
