Argentina midfielder Maxi bagged a hat-trick as Liverpool closed the gap on fifth-place Tottenham Hotspur with a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Birmingham City at Anfield.
The Reds took just seven minutes to open the scoring as Ben Foster spilled Jay Spearing's strike from range straight into the path of Maxi, who dispatched the ball under the body of the Blues keeper.
