Inter Milan have completed the signing of Sampdoria striker Giampaolo Pazzini on a four-and-a-half year deal.
Although the fee is undisclosed, it is widely believed that Inter paid €12 million for Pazzini, while part of the deal has seen Inter forward Jonathan Biabiany join Sampdoria as part-exchange.
Speaking at a press conference at the San Siro, Pazzini said: "It was a bolt from the blue, but a very important opportunity for me.
"It all happened in the space of a couple of days. I found out on Monday and that shows how determined Inter were to seal the deal.
"Coming here is certainly an achievement for a player, but must also be a starting point, seeing as until now I have won nothing in my career. I arrive with great excitement and enthusiasm."
There was an ugly split from Sampdoria, though, as president Riccardo Garrone claimed Pazzini was tempted by the wealth on offer at Inter.
The 26-year-old added: "I heard what the president had to say and I can't deny I was a bit upset, but I don't want to say anything as Sampdoria gave me so much.
"I gave a lot to Sampdoria too and I will never forget the time I spent in Genoa or the fans, who were always so welcoming towards me."
