Brazilian club Flamengo confirmed on Monday that they have signed Ronaldinho from AC Milan on a three-and-a-half year contract.
The 30-year-old's contract was due to expire in the summer and Milan felt it best that they went their separate ways.
The former Ballon d'Or winner has been in talks with several Brazilian clubs, notably Palmeiras and Grêmio, the team he played for before moving to Europe.
However, after weeks of negotiations Rio de Janeiro giants Flamengo have won the race to sign the playmaker with their proposal of €3 million.
Flamengo president Patricia Amorim told a press conference: "We are pleased to announce the presence of Ronaldinho for the next four years.
"I would like to thank the legal department to head coach Wanderley Luxemburgo and, most of all, the Flamengo fans.
"Everyday, everywhere, there were people asking about Ronaldinho. This was the fuel which got negotiations off the ground.
"We have had a difficult year, but we are forming a solid base for this year. The fans can repay us for this by filling the stadiums and buying our merchandise, that is what we want in return."
Ronaldinho added: "I can already imagine that stadium packed full of fans.
"They can expect maximum effort from me and obviously I hope that my hard work will get me back into the Brazil side."
