Manchester City cool talk of Edin Džeko bid

Manchester City assistant manager Brian Kidd poured cold water on the prospect of reviving a bid for VfL Wolfsburg striker Edin Džeko.

Widespread reports suggested that the Premier League outfit had already begun talks with the Bosian, with a £30 million-plus bid said to be in the pipeline.

However, with the transfer window two days away from opening, City are in no mood to confirm Džeko's impending arrival.

"At the moment it is just speculation," Kidd told Sky Sports News.

"The window hasn't opened. It's the usual story isn't it, 'No buy, no sell, no tales to tell'. At the moment it's just speculation with a lot of players being thrown in the pot.

"There is only one man who decides that, and that's the boss (Roberto Mancini). I don't think it's right to speak about other players at other clubs.

"If he feels he can improve the squad and there's a player available he will definitely explore that."
