Scottish giants Glasgow Celtic have signed former Arsenal star Freddie Ljungberg after the former Sweden midfielder passed a medical examination on Thursday.
Terms of the deal have not been disclosed but it is believed Ljungberg has signed until the end of the season, with the prospect of another 12 months.
The 33-year-old has been without a club since leaving the Chicago Fire at the end of the 2010 Major League Soccer season, but could be in contention for a place in the squad for Sunday's Old Firm derby with Glasgow Rangers at Ibrox.
A statement on Celtic's official website read: "Celtic are delighted to announce the signing of Freddie Ljungberg.
"He will be officially unveiled as a Celtic player at a press conference at the Lennoxtown Training Centre on Friday, December 31 at 10am."
