Maicon not a mercenary - Agent

The representative of Inter Milan defender Maicon insists his client never demanded a pay rise to stay with the Nerazzurri.
Inter president Massimo Moratti revealed earlier this week Maicon has been taken off the transfer list following weeks of speculation that he would join former boss José Mourinho at Real Madrid.
On Tuesday, Maicon's agent, Antonio Caliendo, hinted that he felt the right-back should be rewarded a new deal at the San Siro as reward for his loyalty to the cause.
However, Caliendo has now claimed that the media twisted his words and made it as a negative comment.
"I was a bit surprised by some stories, which made Maicon out to be a mercenary," Caliendo told Sky Italia.
"He accepted everything that Moratti decided, the president decided not to move forward in negotiations for the transfer and he has shown he (Maicon) would happily stay.
"He is attached to the Inter shirt, but from our part there is no demand for a pay increase, even though there were some very big offers.
The agent added: "I reiterate that I think it's sensible for the president to call the player and explain why all this happened.
"I'm not talking of recognition, either moral or economic, but we must clarify the situation as a matter of relationships, also for the attachment that my client is showing to Inter.
"I read that Maicon is asking for €6 million a year: I never talked about money in my life, and if we were to make demands we would not make them on television, but privately, with the people of Inter.
"There have been no demands, the only official news that we have had is that Maicon has been removed from the market."
