Werder Bremen expect bidding war over Mesut Özil

Werder Bremen sporting director Klaus Allofs accepts that Germany starlet Mesut Özil is likely to be hot property this summer.
The 21-year-old enjoyed an outstanding World Cup with Germany this summer, helping lead the team to a third place finish in South Africa.
The likes of Arsenal, Barcelona and Real Madrid are now reported to be weighing up approaches to Bremen for one of the rising stars of world football.
Özil has just under a year left to run on his existing deal at the Weserstadion and Allofs conceded the club could not afford to let him walk away when his deal expires.
He told Sky Sports: "I can already think that we will have offers in the next few weeks or just before the transfer deadline from a number of clubs.
"If something concrete comes, we have a duty to talk to Mesut and his advisors and to see what they want. We will not change our policy. We cannot afford it."
Bremen have offered the Gelsenkirchen-born playmaker a new long-term deal but talks are not progressing and Die Grün-Weißen may choose to sell him rather than risk losing a top talent for for nothing next year.
