Manchester City have completed the signing of Lazio left-back Aleksandar Kolarov for an undisclosed fee believed to be around £19 million.
The 24-year-old Serbia international passed a medical in Manchester on Saturday and has put pen to paper on a five-year contract.
"I'm coming back early next week to train with the players who aren't touring America. I want to start as soon as I can, and I can't wait to meet all the other guys.
"I had the opportunity to join other teams - the names are not important. When I spoke with Mr (Roberto) Mancini, my choice was Manchester City because I know they are a good team. I think maybe a great team.
"The Premier League is the best in the world and he wants us to go further and win the Premier title and the Champions League. For a young player like me, this is the best opportunity. It's the dream."
City manager Mancini added: "I first saw Kolarov in his Lazio debut back in 2007. I have watched him a lot since then and so have the Manchester City scouts.
"His attacking capability is very good. He is fast and can shoot with power and accuracy.
"He also has the ability to play in numerous positions and is very good in midfield. This is an additional benefit to the team.
"He has a fantastic international career ahead of him. I am looking forward to working with him."
Kolarov has already been granted a work permit but will not be joining up with his new team-mates in America before they head back to England.
His arrival takes the club's outlay in the transfer window to just under the £80 million mark, following the signings of David Silva, Yaya Touré and Jérôme Boateng.
