AS Roma captain Francesco Totti has signed a new deal with the club to keep him at the Stadio Olimpico until June 2014.

The 33-year-old forward was set to see his current deal expire at the end of this season, but the new contract means he is set to end his playing career with his hometown club.

A statement from the club read: "AS Roma and captain Francesco Totti announce they have reached an agreement to extend the contract, currently ending in June 2010, until June 2014.

"The player will receive €8.6m per season."

In addition, the contract has also assured Totti a role as a member of Roma's technical staff when the deal expires, at which time Er Pupone would be expected to announce his retirement from the game.

Totti has spent his entire career with the capital club, starting in 1992 and has scored nearly 200 Serie A goals for the Giallorossi, guiding the club to the Scudetto in 2001.

"Signing this contract was the realization of a dream," Totti wrote on his official website, www.francescototti.com.

"I am Giallorosso inside and Roma for life. I always knew it and always craved it.

"I would like to thank the Sensi family who have been close to me throughout, even during the most difficult times.

"There was a time when someone would have wanted to see me away from this city and away from this team. But Franco was always with me, like a second father. And I will never forget this."
