Scottish champions Glasgow Rangers wrapped up a season-long loan deal for the Paris St Germain winger Jérôme Rothen on Tuesday.

The left-sided winger passed a medical at Rangers' Murray Park training facility and becomes the Glasgow club's first signing for more than a year.

"I am absolutely delighted to be joining Rangers, a massive club with a great history," Rothen told the club's official website.

"I have been very impressed with everything and now look forward to a new chapter in my life.

"I spoke to Dado Prso and Jérémy Clément, two of my former teammates at Monaco and PSG, and they had great things to say about Rangers.

"They said the fans, the stadium and the training ground are very special and that made my decision to leave Paris a bit easier.

"I am now looking forward to meeting all my new teammates soon and making my debut for Rangers."

The 31-year-old helped Monaco reach the 2004 Champions League final, where they were beaten by FC Porto, and was a member of the France squads at the 2004 and 2008 European Championships.
