José Mourinho has praised new Inter Milan signing Lúcio, claiming the centre-back "was not second choice".
The 31-year-old Brazilian is Inter's third major new signing so far, after bringing in former Genoa stars Thiago Motta and Diego Milito.
Inter boss Mourinho had initially wanted Ricardo Carvalho for his defense, but has now claimed that the arrival of Lúcio will give the Nerazzurri some much needed solidarity at the back.
"He wasn't second choice but a great surprise," Mourinho told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"He doesn't have great feet but he defends well, he's quick and he's knows how to push the team up the pitch. He doesn't talk much but he knows how to get himself heard."
