In demand Fiorentina midfielder Felipe Melo has moved to end speculation surrounding his future by signing a one-year contract extension at the Artemio Franchi.

The Brazil international, who joined Fiorentina in a €8 million switch from Spanish side Almería last summer, has been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Barcelona and Inter Milan.

But the 25-year-old Melo has snubbed their advances and agreed new terms with the Tuscan club.

A Fiorentina statement said: "The club announces that its sporting director Pantaleo Corvino met in Milan with Felipe Melo's agent and an agreement was reached to extend the player's contract until 2013 with a buy-out clause also included."

The Italian press believe the buyout clause specified is worth around €23 million.
