Evra blasts 'dirty' Gunners

Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra has sensationally accused Cesc Fàbregas and some of his Arsenal teammates of trying to kick him out of the Champions League final.

Evra, who joined the Red Devils from AS Monaco in 2006 for a £5.5 million fee, claims several Arsenal players targeted him during a goalless draw at Old Trafford last weekend, which gave United a third Premier League title in a row.

The Frenchman believes the Gunners were targeting him after he described them as "babies" after United’s Champions League semi-final win at the Emirates.

Fàbregas was booked just after half time for a late challenge which caught Evra's knee, leaving him needing treatment. Then Robin van Persie was lectured by referee Mike Dean for another lunge at the defender before Samir Nasri was yellow carded for fouling him.

"For me the bad challenge was by Fàbregas when he touched my knee," Evra told The Telegraph.

"I was very angry because, OK, maybe he was not happy with what I said in the semi-final of the Champions’ League, but when you have a problem with somebody, you need to try to win on the pitch – not kick someone – or see me outside the pitch. This is the best way.

"I want to say ‘thanks’ to the referee, because he came to me and said: ‘Pat, I don’t know what is going on, but a lot of the Arsenal players are angry with you. Try to make my job easier. I don’t want you to do something bad because you’re not the kind of player who does bad tackles. I know it’s difficult but just try to relax’.

"When he said that I could feel myself calm down.

"You think you might miss the final with some stupid tackle. I was going to react in a bad way, but the referee made me calm myself down.

"When the Arsenal player did that, or when some people speak about Manchester, I try to do something on the pitch, to score, to win – not kick someone, because it’s easy to do it that way."
