Bayern Munich have appointed Louis van Gaal as their new coach after he was released from his contract with Dutch champions AZ Alkmaar.
Van Gaal has agreed a two-year deal with the Bundesliga outfit and will assume his responsibilities on July 1.
The former Ajax and Barcelona boss will replace Jürgen Klinsmann, who was sacked after only ten months in charge following a poor run of results.
"We are happy to have signed an experienced and successful football coach for Bayern Munich such as Louis van Gaal," Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said in a statement.
