Ex-Inter Milan striker Adriano has joined Rio de Janeiro-based club Flamengo, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old was without a team since Inter Milan ended his contract last month after he failed to return from international duty.
Adriano said at the time he was taking a break from football because he was unhappy in Italy.
However, he has been persuaded to make a quick-fire return at the club where he began his career in 2000.
Flamengo was Adriano's first team as a professional before sealing a move to Europe in 2001.
He will be officially introduced to fans on Thursday.
His contract will last for one year and he is expected to earn a salary of around £100,000 a month that will be paid by a company that will sponsor Flamengo.
