Real Madrid winger Arjen Robben admits he could return to PSV Eindhoven one day having previously promised to go back there in the latter stages of his career.

The Dutch international made his name with Groningen and PSV in the Eredivisie before moving to Chelsea in 2004 and vowed that he would go back and spend at least a year there before retiring.

Asked by PSV TV about his pledge to return to the club, Robben replied: "I find it very difficult.

"When you make promises you must keep them but you can't plan anything in football. What remains is the fact that PSV is my favourite team in Holland, together with FC Groningen.

"In principle the chance that I will return to PSV at the end of my career is always present."
