Klose blow for Bayern

Bayern Munich striker Miroslav Klose could miss up to eight weeks after undergoing surgery on his ankle injury on Monday.

The 30-year-old was injured in Bayern's 3-0 win at Bochum after stepping into a hole in the field and twisting his foot. He fell to the ground in agony and limped from the field.

It was initially feared that Germany international was set to be sidelined for one month.

However, that diagnosis has now been doubled and Klose has been ruled out of both legs of Bayern's Champions League quarter-final ties as well as Germany's next two World Cup qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Wales.

"He is going to have an operation this afternoon," Bayern general manager Uli Hoeneß told Sueddeutsche on Monday. "That means he will be out for six to eight weeks."

Bayern coach Jürgen Klinsmann said in the club's official website: "This is obviously a bitter blow.

"We can only hope that the operation goes well and Miro gets back on his feet quickly."
