Shay Given joins Manchester City

Shay Given has agreed to join Manchester City with the Irish goalkeeper signing a four-and-a-half-year deal and ending an eleven year stint with Newcastle.
The 32-year-old has been linked with a move to City for the last couple of weeks, but only now has Mark Hughes has finally got his man, with the experienced 'keeper set to add stability to the leaky City backline.
Given underwent a medical at Eastlands on Sunday and has now sealed his switch to the ambitious outfit.
The fee was undisclosed, and it is thought to be anywhere between £5 and £10 million.
Given made a massive 354 Premier League appearances for the Magpies, and the Toon fans will no doubt be sad to see him leave St. James' Park.
Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear revealed the club did all they could to persuade Given to stay on Tyneside.
He said: "I'm really sorry to see Shay go. He's been a fantastic professional and a great lad to work with.
"We bent over backwards to try and keep him at Newcastle United and offered him a longer contract to stay at the club.
"He's been with Newcastle United for a long time and has been a great servant, but he felt the time was right to move on and so realistically, we had no choice but to reluctantly agree to allow him to make this move.
"I wish him and his family all the very best for the future."
