Eric Cantona has declared that he would love to return to Manchester United in a managerial capacity.
The United legend, whose only coaching experience is with his national beach soccer team, inspired the Red Devils to win their first league title in 26 years in 1993, beginning a decade of Premier League dominance at the Theatre of Dreams.
And more than 10 years since he shocked United supporters with his decision to quit the game, Cantona, who was known as ‘King Eric’, confirmed he now wants to return to the club as manager.
He told French TV station Canal+: "I would like to coach Manchester United.
"I have the pretentiousness to think that I must work with great players.
"Just look at (Diego) Maradona, he is the perfect example of what I’m saying. As a club coach he has won 2 games out of 25. But being Argentina’s coach is the ideal place for him and his results are proving it."
He added: "I don’t know if I’m right, but I have convictions and if coaching is to be my job, I will do it as an artist."
