Andrei Arshavin has revealed of his huge relief at finally completing his transfer from Zenit St Petersburg to Arsenal.
The Russian forward passed a medical and agreed personal terms with the Gunners on Monday, but the switch to Emirates Stadium was not sealed until the day after the deadline because of administrative delays caused by the severe snow which crippled London's transport networks.
And after it was finalised at 4.50pm on Tuesday, Arshavin told Sky Sports News: "I am happy to be here.
"I became a Gunner some time ago and I'm happy now. I will do my best.
"It was very hard days for me, but now it doesn't matter, now I am a Gunner, that is what is important."
Arshavin, who is reported to have been prepared to take a pay cut to join Arsenal, has flown back to St Petersburg to sort out his work permit before starting work at his new club.
