Sevilla striker Frédéric Kanouté is facing a fine from the Spanish football federation for revealing a T-shirt expressing support for Palestine during a match against Deportivo La Coruña on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old lifted his jersey to display a black T-shirt on which the word 'Palestine' was printed in various languages.
However, the federation's Competition Committee state that players are not permitted to show any political messages during a match, and this is where Kanouté could get into trouble.
Now, the Committee will have to decide this Friday whether or not he will be punished for the action.
Kanouté, who is a practising Muslim, has bought religion into football in the past too, when he refused to wear a Sevilla shirt sponsored by gambling website 888.com, as betting is against Islamic principles.
