Manchester City's newest signing Wayne Bridge believes there are exciting times ahead for the club.

The former Chelsea full-back has put pen to paper on a four and a half year deal at Eastlands and becomes manager Mark Hughes' first signing since the opening of the winter transfer window.

And the England international was introduced by his new club on Saturday ahead of the FA Cup match against Nottingham Forest at the City of Manchester Stadium, where they were beaten 3-0 and bowed out of the competition.

However, Bridge remains upbeat about the move and believes it is an exciting time to be at Eastlands.

He told the club's official website: "I'm just excited to be here and when I spoke to the manager yesterday he told me of the exciting times ahead at the club.

"It's an exciting time to be at the club with what's happening here and I'm looking forward to putting the shirt on regularly and getting out there to show everyone what I can do.

"I'm just looking forward to getting out and playing some regular football.

"I haven't played that much, so I'm aiming to play on a regular basis, get my fitness up to scratch and hopefully help the team climb the table and achieve big things."
