Real not lost hope on Young

While Real Madrid players have taken Christmas holidays, their president Ramón Calderón, sporting director Predrag Mijatović and coach Juande Ramos are still discussing their strategy to prise Ashley Young from Aston Villa.
According to Marca, Los Blancos have made the 23-year-old winger as their No 1 transfer target this January. The offer is said to be around £25 million.
Real are well aware that they face a very complicated task to sign Young as Villa’s manager Martin O’Neill has warned Real to lay off his player and that he is not for sale.
One option to convince Villa to sell Young is to offer Rafael van der Vaart in part of a player-plus-cash deal.
The Dutch star has struggled with injuries and form since signing from Hamburg in the summer.
