Ranieri hopes to avoid Chelsea

Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri is desperate to avoid a Champions League showdown with former club Chelsea.

A less than impressive performance against BATE Borisov saw Juve finished top of Group H with a goaless draw in Turin.

But that means Ranieri could now be handed a last 16 clash with the Blues, who had to settle for second place in their group.

And the Italian told Sky Italia after the game last night: "The strongest would have to be Chelsea.

"But if we have to face them at some stage we might as well eliminate them at once.

"It depends on you how you are at the time. If you are in form and your opponents are not having chances to win, names don’t matter."
