Gennaro Gattuso has revealed that he came within a whisker of joining Bayern Munich in the summer.
The AC Milan midfielder, who will miss the rest of the season following a knee surgery, admitted he seriously considered joining the Bundesliga champions before vice-president Adriano Galliani persuaded him to stay.
"I was close to joining Bayern," Gattuso told Sky Italia. "But I am happy that I remained with Milan.
"I want to thank Mr Galliani who convinced me to stay. I’ve been made to feel important again in this team.
"That was the right decision to make because it is still an honour for me to wear the Rossoneri colours."
