Ranieri denies Buffon move

Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri has rubbished rumours linking his number one goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon with a big-money move to Premier League outfit Manchester City.

Reports in both Italy and England suggest Mark Hughes' side are preparing a staggering bid of around €75 million, in an attempt to lure the Azzurri No 1 to Eastlands.

It is also believed that the 30-year-old could be offered a five-year contract worth €15 million per season.

However, Ranieri insists there is no chance of this transfer taking place.

"Gigi remains with us. He will not go anywhere," Ranieri said. "He wants to achieve more with the club, and he is only 30, so he still has plenty of time to do so."

Earlier in the week, Buffon had claimed that he would be prepared to move for the good of the Bianconeri if a big-money offer came in for him.

"At the moment a move is not on the cards," he said in a videochat with fans on Gazzetta TV. "Of course if someone offers 50 million to the club I will be the first to the tell the directors to sell me.

"I want the best for Juve and with that amount they could reinforce the squad."
