Nicklas Bendtner slams Arsenal for 'wasting his time'

Ex-Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has hit out at his former club for not allowing him to leave North London last season.

Bendtner made only nine Premier League appearances for the Gunners during the 2013/14 season after returning from loan spells with Sunderland and Juventus.

The Denmark international eventually joined VfL Wolfsburg on a free transfer this summer after his contract with Arsenal expired, ending a seven year relationship with the club.

And Bendtner has now revealed that he was desperate to leave Arsenal and could not understand the decision to deny him a transfer.

He told Tipsbladet: "It was a terrible situation. My last year at Arsenal was a waste of time.

"It was worthless that Arsenal did not allow me to leave.

"A club like Arsenal could easily have found someone else to play my role. They would have had no trouble finding a player who could do what they wanted me to do."
