A Jean-Baptiste Pierazzi thunderbolt secured a 2-1 victory for the San Jose Earthquakes against FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium on Saturday night.
Blas Pérez opened the scoring for Dallas after 16 minutes before Atiba Harris evened the game at a goal apiece in the 27th minute.
Dallas played a man short after Adam Moffat picked up his second yellow card of the game and was given his marching orders on 37 minutes.
San Jose eventually capitalised on the one-man advantage by scoring the winner on the stroke of half-time.
After receiving a pass from Khari Stephenson, Pierazzi alertly noticed that Dallas goalkeeper Chris Seitz was in the middle of the goal.
The 29-year-old Frenchman then blasted a sublime shot from 35 yards out that sailed into the top corner past the outstretched hand of Seitz.
Pierazzi said after the game: "I had a lot of space in front of me. I just tried to shoot. I was just lucky. It was a great score for me and the team."
"You know, you got to give him credit," Seitz said. "He hit it well and hit it on frame, but it's one of those things you kind of want back.
"I could have gone back and done something different. It's disappointing in that aspect, but it's one of those things you've got to learn from and move on with."
