An FA Cup winners' medal, two wedding rings and many other personal belongings of Wigan Athletic midfielder James McArthur were stolen during a burglary at his home this week.
Sometime between 20 May and 26 May, burglars broke into McArthur's house in Wigan and cleaned out the 26-year-old's personal items.
Among those items were his FA Cup winner's medal and two wedding rings for his upcoming marriage.
"I am devastated, as is my fiancee," McArthur told Wigan's official website. "The medal is priceless for me and this is a real blow to us to happen just before the wedding.
"They ripped through the house and took virtually everything of value. It is very upsetting.
"I would just like to appeal to anybody who has any information to help the police."
McArthur won the FA Cup medal when the Latics claimed a shock 1-0 win over Manchester City in the final at Wembley in 2013.
Detective Constable Kevin Telford added: "Understandably, James and his family are devastated someone has broken into their private property and stolen their possessions.
"Not only has an FA Cup medal been stolen but two rings that were going to be used in Mr McArthur's wedding. They are of huge sentimental value to them and while the rings can be replaced, the medal is something that cannot.
"It is unlikely the offenders will keep hold of the medal and may try to sell it on. Obviously, it is unusual for such an item to come on the market so I would ask anyone who is offered the medal or who has any information as to where the items are, to contact police."
