Galatasaray star Didier Drogba has donated €1 million to the families of the victims who lost their lives in the recent mining disaster in Soma, Turkey.
Over 300 people have been confirmed dead following an underground explosion at a coal mine in Soma last week.
Galatasaray players paid their tribute to the victims by wearing miners helmets ahead of their match against Kayseri Erciyesspor at the weekend.
And Drogba, who is known for his charitable causes, has gone one step further by making a generous donation of €1 million to the victims' families.
However, the former Chelsea striker admitted he was annoyed that his donation became public.
He told reporters: "I am a U.N. ambassador of goodwill and I will do all that I can to help the people in Soma.
"But I don't want anyone to use my name. I'm not someone who will promote himself in such issues. I don't need this sort of a self-promotion."
