Goal of the day: Paul Pogba (Juventus) vs Sampdoria
Table of Contents
Paul Pogba scored a fantastic goal to wrap up a 4-2 win for Juventus against Sampdoria at the Juventus Stadium on Saturday.
Having set a club record with their 11th successive win last week, Juventus were looking to close in on Inter Milan's record of 17 consecutive victories, set in the 2006/07 season.
The home side began the brighter, winning back and retaining possession well, without creating a host of clear-cut chances.
Juventus took an 18th-minute lead through Arturo Vidal before Fernando Llorente powerfully headed a second in the 24th minute from a corner.
There was time for an Andrea Barzagli own goal and Vidal's second before the break with Manolo Gabbiadini making life uncomfortable for Antonio Conte's men in the second half.
However, Pogba put the points beyond reach with a magnificent strike 12 minutes from time.
The former Manchester United man struck a fierce, dipping effort with his right foot into the far top corner, leaving Sampdoria goalkeeper Angelo da Costa with no chance.
"Pogba could've done a lot better. I'm not joking!" Conte told Sky Sport Italia.
"I've certainly seen better performances from Paul. At times the goal fogs the vision of the whole game, but I get angry as people forget everything around it."
