The Toffees dominated almost from start to finish and were full value for their first win over Norwich since their promotion back to the top flight in 2011.

Everton broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute when Gareth Barry was allowed to stride forward before arrowing a 25-yard shot into the top corner.

Mirallas then sealed the win for Roberto Martínez's side with an exquisite free-kick just before the hour mark.

The hosts were awarded a free-kick just outside the area after a driving run by Leighton Baines was crudely halted by Ryan Bennett.

The fans packed into the four sides of Goodison Park may have expected the fouled man to dust himself off and claim the free-kick his own.

The angle, however, was suited to the right foot and Mirallas stepped up to expertly lift the ball over the wall and past the despairing dive of John Ruddy.
