A Kenny Cunningham screamer helped propel Wellington Phoenix to a 5-0 win over a hapless Melbourne Victory at Westpac Stadium on Saturday.
The hosts dominated possession from the start and went ahead in the 18th minute when Carlos Hernández buried home a powerful right-footed shot.
Not to be outdone, Hernández's Costa Rican teammate Cunningham produced a contender for goal of the season just before half-time.
Played in by Hernández 20 yards outside the Victory's area, Cunningham took one touch and unleashed a dipping, swerving volley that flew past Nathan Coe.
A Hernández penalty gave the Phoenix a 3-0 lead at the break, and they rounded off an outstanding effort with late goals from Jeremy Brockie and Stein Huysegems.
